Our best and most popular starter wetsuit for women is the Reptile Core—giving you maximum value for your money. Featuring unparalleled flexibility from Yamamoto neoprene, high-visibility sleeves, a lowered neckline, smooth-skin finish, and quick-change speed-cuff panels on the arms and legs, the Reptile Core is the perfect choice for both short and long open water swims—ideal for beginner triathletes and open water swimmers.

Unlike our other wetsuits, the entire arm panel on the Reptile Core is crafted from the most flexible and lightweight Yamamoto 1.5 mm neoprene, so every stroke feels smooth and effortless, and you’ll stay fresh for longer. This is especially appreciated by newer swimmers and makes the suit great for breaststroke too.

The suit features a blend of smooth-skin and super-stretchy Yamamoto #39 jersey neoprene. Thickness varies: 1.5 mm at the neck, collar, shoulders, arms, armpits, wrists, and ankles, with 2.0 mm at the chest, back, waist, hips, thighs, and calves. Yamamoto has been the world leader in neoprene since 1961, and theirs is made from limestone—giving your suit unbeatable durability and natural flexibility. The slightly thicker panels at the chest and legs also give your lower body the lift you need for an optimal position in the water, as well as excellent warmth for your core.

Visibility was a top priority in development. The purple color is the most visible in open water, so others will always spot you. For added safety, this color is also used on the backs of the legs.

Reptile Core for women is also designed with:

The unique Reptile Core neoprene construction doesn't just give lasting durability that won’t sag over time—it’s also known for high heat retention, keeping your body warm in colder water so you can swim longer without losing performance.

That’s why the Watery Reptile Core wetsuit is suitable for water temperatures between 10 and 26°C, which in Ireland usually covers mid-April through late September.

The neck, wrist, and ankle openings finish with special no-leak panels and gentle elastic, stopping cold water from rushing in. To keep these areas comfy, the panels use just a single layer of neoprene. The neckline is lowered for a natural fit around your neck and fastens tightly with a curved Velcro closure at the back to prevent uncomfortable chafing.

You zip up the suit at the back using a premium, stainless-steel YKK zipper with a long pull cord, so you can easily do it yourself—even over your head.

Swimming fast in the water doesn’t help if you can’t get your wetsuit off fast in T1. That’s why the sleeve and leg ends have special speed-cuff panels on the inside, so you can slip it off quickly and easily.

How to care for your Reptile Core wetsuit: cleaning and storage tips

Good care after every swim is crucial for your wetsuit's long-term life. Too much salt (from the sea) or chlorine (from the pool) will damage the neoprene over time.

Rinse your wetsuit in cold water after each use. If it’s especially dirty, use a touch of pH-neutral soap to keep the neoprene in top shape.

Hang it up to dry until it's totally dry inside and out before folding or packing away. You can dry it inside (with good air flow) or outside—just never in direct sunlight.

When storing, don’t just crumple it up. Instead, hang it over a hanger at the waist. This avoids creasing delicate spots (shoulders, arms, legs) and keeps the suit’s shape perfect.

How to put on and take off your Reptile Core wetsuit

  1. Fully unzip the back and fold down the wetsuit’s top.
  2. Put one leg in and pull it through, then do the same with the other leg.
  3. Using gloves or avoiding nails, gently work the suit up over your hips in small sections so it sits at your waist.
  4. Pull it further up, slip one arm fully in, then the other, so it fits snug on your body.
  5. Grab the long nylon cord at the back and zip all the way up, slowly and steadily.
  6. Close the Velcro flap at the top and secure the nylon cord at the base of the zipper with the attached Velcro tab.
